By Anupriya Kumar, Miranda House College

Beauty pageants in the modern times have been a rage with people in countries across the world ever since 1950s. In India, the idea of a beauty contest caught popular imagination in 1994. I clearly recall that as a curious pre-teenager with an infinitely impressionable mind, I had rejoiced at the news of Sushmita Sen becoming the first Indian woman to clinch the coveted Ms Universe title in 1994. Light Up Your Life!

Happy Diwali from Youthv!!

Politics is not for me
“POLITICS IS NOT FOR ME”

- By Cijo .P. Mathew

Sometimes I ask myself as to what is going to be our next generation of politicians gonna be like. Our generation has seen politicians who are corrupt and misuse their powers to benefit themselves. Here , I am not saying that the entire  political  community is corrupt , there are  honest leaders  politicswho  work  with integrity  towards  the cause of nation building . When we think of politics today, what also comes to mind is the dirty game of communal politics played by some handful politicians and the riots in the name of rAeligion to create a rift among countrymen to either come to power or maintain power?   People who have good intentions and want to really work for the society are often not allowed to, by these corrupt politicians. Seeing all this happen, today our young generation don’t want to enter this field, many would say “I don’t want to enter into this mess” and   some others would simply say that “politics is not for me”.
