Some Tips for newbies:

1. Wear shoes. Thick flexible soles will help cushion your feet and absorb shock.
2. Warm up before you strat your walk. Do some stretching exercises.
3. Wear comfortable and convenient clothes that will absorb sweat.
4. Walk in a group or with a partner.
5. Swing your arms as you walk.
6. Choose the time of your walk. Daytime is better. If at night, choose well lighted areas.
7. Walk slowly intially and gradually speed up.
8. Keep your chin up. Keep your shoulders little back.
9. Avoid wearing jewelry or headphones. Be aware of your surroundings.
10. Choose a safe place.
11. Walk 3 or 4 times per week.
12. Make sure that the heel of your foot touches the ground. Then roll your weight forward.

Walking is one of the most easiest and convenient way to stay physically active. Go ahead and start your walking program now.
