CRICKET LOOMS-3 by Ila
You couldn’t really entertain, while also remaining unscathed by its corrupting influence. Money compliments entertainment, & if you have hoards of it, the boundaries of morality begin to blur. So if a person slapped his once-adored friend, the world had every right to pounce at the bait of entertainment thrown at them.
If a certain person graced every match his team played with his propitious presence, & jumped & danced at the slightest activity of his players, shutterbugs were bound click nonstop, & our junta couldn’t obviously shut its eyes upon the high-end drama unraveling every day on every news channel it put on & every newspaper it happened.
It is a long unacknowledged trend in the media that most of our masses do not really care for the hard truth, but rather prefer illusions of a far-fetched, inaccessible lifestyle. Cricket, like a popular form of entertainment, has seeped into Bollywood, web world, advertising industry, & no one’s really complaining. If it’s churning out money, at the same time driving people crazy, what’s the harm in it?
However, what was irksome for Sahil was cricket’s premier status quo as a sporting activity, while other sports & sportsmen were still struggling for popular recognition. After all, our country needs not only a World Cup in cricket, but equally needs one in hockey & football & basketball &…….If a Bhajji-Symonds spat could grab headlines, so could a Zidane’s head-butt make the world gasp & take notice.
