The baseline is whether the analyst can recognize the slant of the letters, general shape of the strokes & the pressure applied on the paper while writing. For example, an upward slant of the letters indicates optimism & higher energy, whereas a downward slant points to exhaustion. Similarly circular handwriting indicates an agreeable, easy going nature, while square handwriting spells a practical & realistic mindset.

An expert can easily determine the emotional intensity behind a person’s behavior. So, as one applies heavy pressure while writing, he unconsciously tends to be asserting his emotions more intensely.
