Colosseum report
Colosseum’-The brand name for Pantnagar,the name which itself exudes an aura of excellence, challenge and achievement finally had Pantnagar coming to a halt as the countdown ended on 20 march for this much awaited event, organised by Engineering and Technology society.Colosseum is the amphitheatre to showcase the talent and skill and is the battlefield where one competes for excellence.
DAY 1:
20th march
Colosseum’09 the sixth Avatar of this National Level Technical Fest witnessed the participation of 30 colleges and approximate 1500 participants who were here to DREAM,INNOVATE and ACHIEVE.
Colosseum sponsored by Path Infotech (Microsoft), in association with Idea and co sponsored by ONGC, THDC, IFFCO, PNB, SAIL,and print partner Times Of India, hospitality partner Ginger radio partner Radio Mantra youth media partner YouthV.com was inaugurated on 20 March by honourable Vice Chancellor Sir, Dr. B. S. Bisht. The inauguration was followed by various events touching the different perspectives of the students. The students participated in large numbers throughout the day.
‘Abhivyakti” displayed the talent of the students in technical communication in the domain of media technology.
‘Ranbhumi’ the robotics contest called upon creative brains to display their brainstormy ideas of the students in making robots.
‘Aurum’ the personality contest –the hunt for the most charismatic personality began.
The Adobe Workshop by Adobe Authorised Technopoint and Renaissance Workshops were also conducted.
The students also participated in the various branch events like Open Software contest ,Kurukshetra- the LAN Gaming contest,,Jugat,Tracksion,I-Bridge, Automotives and Imagineering.

‘The mind-boggling questions of X-Quiz It’ compelled the students to open the knols of their gray matter. Results of the Finals were-
Winner Team – Shikha Semwal,Mansi Aswal,Aditya Tewari
1st runners up team- Pankaj Singh Bora,Govind Ballabh Joshi, Yogesh Salvasi
2nd runners up team- Raman Lakhera, Utkarsh,Anant Shanker.
The event ‘Kriti’ saw the 3D imagining ability coming out of the students mind in figuring out the plan and elevation of machine components.
Finally the evening was dedicated to the renowned Indian poets like Buddhi Nath Mishra who drew a large audience.Their creations mesmerised the audience.
Thus the day culminated with this programme known as Ahlaad.

DAY 2:
21st March
The day 2 of Colosseum resumed with the same gusto and enthusiasm as the first day. The students engaged themselves in various events. Aurum –The personality hunt moved on to the next level in search of Mr. and Miss Aurum.
The Renaissance Workshop was held on Personality development.
I See IC-This event saw participants making electronic circuit from the given components.A very enriching Guest Lecture was held by Mr. Ashish K. Mukherjee on the topic “World is flat” which is about globalisation and empowering individuals.
The finals of Oye Its Faraday were held a quiz competition which included written quiz,group discussion and paper presentation.
In the informals 3rd Theatre presented Nukkad based on the present scenario of the administrative system. Finally at the end of the day was the DJ Nite which gave an opportunity to the students to let their hair down and break free from the hectic schedule.
Day 3:
22nd march
The last day of Colosseum marked the finals of various events like Aurum, Iconoclasm, Jugat, etc. A guest lecture was delivered by Mr. Robinder Sachdev on case studies in Communications, Politics and Lobbying- in India and U.S. Many fun events like ‘Chakravyuh’- The treasure hunt gave an opportunity to the participants to take a break from the technical and literary events and to couple their mental and physical energies to escape the maze and egg parachute not only made the students enjoy themselves thoroughly but also tested their mental ability.

2nd Divya aggarwal and pallavi Joshi
3rd Shrikant Pant and Udit Tiwari.
Results of Kriti were-
1st Hitesh Baliyan,
2nd Siddharth joshi and
3rd Deepika Verma.
The winners of Hide The Heat were
1st Vivek Longwal and Manisha Arya,
2nd Rupesh Tomar and Shiri,
3rd Sanjay Yadav and Bhaskar Puggal.
The winners of Biz-Czar were
1st Bhomik Pandey and Puneet Goel,
2nd Utkarsh Srivastava,Anant Shankar and Ankit Tewari,
3rd Ashok Rawat,Gaurav Verma and Hari N. Mishra.
The winners of Junkyard Wars were
1st Ravi Deshmal,Ravi Sherwal and Raman Lakhera,
2nd Anamika Saxena,Tripti Pradhan,Suniti Rautela and Megha Sharma,
3rd Vivek Kr. Gupta,Nishant Singhal and Vikas Pandey.The winners of Sanrachna(Working model) were
1st -Anirudh,Suchint and Shardul of DBIT, Dehradun,
2nd Moradabad-Saumitra Vatsal Pandey,Rupali Chauhan, Doli Rani and Raghvendra Yadavof MIT, Muradabad.
Non Working model
1st–Praveen Kr. Singh,Prateek Bhandari and Vineet Jaiswal of College Of Technology, Pantnagar.
2nd -Sharad Kumar,Yugal Nankani and Mayank of College Of Technology, Pantnagar.
All the students held their breath for the much awaited event of Colosseum ”Coroboree”,the celebrity night which had the band performance of Euphoria.
The melodious voice of the renowned singer Palash Sen made the crowd euphoric. The songs like maaeri, dhoom pichak dhoom , compelled the audience to tap their feet to the music. Thus Colosseum 09’ sponsored by Path Infotech (Microsoft), in association with Idea and co sponsored by ONGC, THDC, IFFCO, PNB, SAIL, , Times Of India culminated with this scintillating performance with a promise to return next year with double enthusiasm as Colosseum ’10.
