International Youth Day
Youth, the word is synonymous to an identity full of spark, energy, and enthusiasm. Driven by the passion of social change, youth of a country is undoubtedly instrumental in spearheading its present and preparing it to head towards a better tomorrow. With the same view, a resolution announcing August 12 as ‘International Youth Day’ was adopted during the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth in 1998. But it was in 1999, when the UN General Assembly endorsed the proposal and observed this day for the first time in 2000. Since then the event has been celebrated globally and every year it witnesses the huge participation of government and non-government organizations, academic institutions, corporates, and young people.
Youth has always been considered as the building block of any society. And it must not be forgotten that in a country like India, it was only the self-determination power of youth like Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Sukhdev, Rajguru, and many more, which brought about a revolution in the country and it got rid of the clutches of British. India rejoiced in the lap of Independence only when they sacrificed their lives. The spirit of such great martyrs must be saluted.
In an endeavor to keep alive the same momentum, a non-profit youth empowerment organization called ‘Yuva Parivar Sewa Samiti’ (YPSS) was established under the guidance of His Holiness Sri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji. The initiative was taken to channelize the untapped potential of youth in right direction by acquainting him of his hidden talent. The contemporary era is full of severe challenges faced by youth, whether it is about poverty, unemployment, drug abuse, participation in decision-making process, or several other related issues. Such an insurmountable situation needs to be tackled appositely. Understanding the need of the hour, we pondered over such burning issues and encouraged young people to become the backbone of our mission. And today, YPSS is the storehouse of selfless and dedicated volunteers who are actively engaged in the arena of social service.
Our volunteers relentlessly strive to serve the society to their best. When any part of the country is entrapped by a disaster like natural calamity, they instantly reach the destination to treat the victims and help them recover from their miserable condition. Furthermore, YPSS makes available basic amenities, including food and clothing for their well-being. Apart from everything, our volunteers give them mental support and counseling to heal their emotional wounds.
YPSS very well supports a social cause and possesses the capability to combat the barriers impeding its progress. Comprehensive rallies are conducted on regular basis to draw mass attention towards a noble goal. In this way, its volunteers bolster the spirit of their nation and lead movements, which are conducive to change.
Besides, one of the key initiatives of YPSS has been its monthly workshops on ‘Self Assessment and Management’ (SAM), which have successfully become endeared to the young audience. Aimed for the people between 15-35 years of age, SAM workshops’ venues are jam-packed with an exuberant audience. The event is full of vigor where our Fusion band ‘Eternal Bliss” enthralls the audience with its motivating rock performances. Not only this, thought-provoking presentations by dynamic young spiritual leaders lead to the path of success and peace. Moreover, vibrant plays and skits presented by YPSS members are truly a great example of infotainment, which spread awareness through the medium of entertainment.
Presenting a new theme each and every month, this time SAM workshop is directed towards expressing the importance and relevance of the International Youth Day. So, do not miss this exclusive event and ensure your participation in it this August. No wonder, it could prove to be a platform for you to explore your caliber.
On the whole, YPSS operates with the sole objective of enabling the youth to acknowledge its strengths and utilizing them for the betterment of the society. The time has come to join hands and fight together this battle as several problems, including substance abuse and juvenile delinquency may engulf the youth. Come on, let us get harmonized and make India cherish forever.
